Big Hearts

When I was little we had a parakeet. Whenever one of us was sick we would hang out on the couch for the day with our pillow & blanket. The bird would sit on the pillow essentially taking care of us...somehow knowing something was wrong.

Yesterday Tyler wasn't feeling well. Later in the evening he was lying on the floor a few feet away from Annie, with his head turned away from her. She managed to scoot herself across the floor to be next to him. He tried to scoot away, but she was persistent until she could be close enough to touch him....possibly knowing he needed some extra love that day.

On Sunday, there was a young man named Tyler J. who was chatting with me in primary. He was commenting on the flower clipped to Annie's headband. His mother makes them for his sister. He actually described to me how to make them. When I told him it sounded like he could do it, he got the biggest smile across his face that I had ever seen on him. Now, this may not seem like much to some of you, but here's why it is. Tyler J. has a learning disability & usually is not the most outgoing child. On Monday, Tyler J. showed up at my doorstep with a brand new, big pink flower clip for Annie that he had made. He even told his mom not to worry, that he could come to the door by himself to deliver it. I have seen many of these clips, but this has to be, by far, the most well constructed I have ever seen. He did an amazing job! When I clipped it to Annie's hair, there was that big, warm smile yet again.

We always seem to find the biggest hearts & blessings in the smallest of things. I hope you can see them in your life too. They always make life better!
